Green Home Builder Applauds Advisor John Adams For Winning Nation's Highest Civilian Honor, The Medal Of Freedom

Novemeber 29, 2010 - Green home builder Blu Homes, Inc. ( today applauded its board member John H. Adams for winning the 2010 Medal of Freedom, the Nation’s highest civilian honor.

“It’s heartening to see our board member and my close friend John Adams singled out by President Obama for his lifetime of stewardship and his extraordinary leadership in protecting our planet," said Bill Haney, founder and CEO of Blu. "John is an inspiration to us all."

John Adams co-founded the Natural Resources Defense Council in 1970. Adams served as Executive Director and, later, as president of the nonprofit environmental advocacy group until 2006. His tenure is unparalleled by the leader of any other environmental organization. Rolling Stone writes: “If the planet has a lawyer, it’s John Adams.”

The Medal of Freedom is presented to individuals who have made especially meritorious contributions to the security or national interests of the United States, to world peace, or to cultural or other significant public or private endeavors.

"These outstanding honorees come from a broad range of backgrounds and they’ve excelled in a broad range of fields, but all of them have lived extraordinary lives that have inspired us, enriched our culture, and made our country and our world a better place," said President Obama. "I look forward to awarding them this honor next year."

Adams is joined by Maya Angelou, Warren Buffet, Jasper Johns, Yo-Yo Ma and President George H.W. Bush as 2010 honorees.
