Blu Opens First-Of-A-Kind Manufacturing Facility for Green Houses in Massachusetts

December 3, 2009

December 3, 2009 - Blu Homes, Inc. today announced it recently opened a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Littleton, Mass. to build modern, healthy, green buildings for commercial and residential use. The Littleton facility currently employs 16 people full-time and routinely hires additional subcontractors from the nearby communities.

Blu's break-through computer modeling, unique folding technology and unusual use of a hybrid steel and wood frame allows it to manufacture buildings that are larger and more durable than any other factory-built homes and commercial spaces. Blu buildings can be affordably shipped anywhere in the country from its Massachusetts facility and can be installed and finished within a matter of days.

"Blu is pleased to open it's first facility for manufacturing our pioneering green homes here in our home state of Massachusetts," said Bill Haney, founder and president of Blu Homes. "Littleton, Massachusetts is conveniently near our headquarters and the technology universities of Boston, and allows our engineers and builders to work hand-in-hand to deliver the finest, most beautiful, green homes to customers quickly and efficiently. The local community has been a great resource for well-trained workers and high-quality materials."

Trevor Huffard, vice president of operations for Blu Homes, joined the company in July and oversees the Littleton facility. In addition to receiving a degree in computer science from Brown University, an MBA from Duke University, and spending a decade in environmental finance on Wall Street, Huffard, 44, brings more than 10 years of fine-quality, green home building experience to Blu.
