Blu’s unique steel-framing technology enables our homes to be folded to fit on a standard flatbed truck for easy transportation to your site. Using standard delivery trucks is a key advantage for Blu, allowing us to deliver more cost effectively and virtually anywhere in the U.S. and Canada.
In addition, our steel folding technology allows Blu’s homes to be unfolded at their destination, creating living spaces that are far more spacious and much wider and taller than other prefab homes and traditional stick-built homes. Once delivered, our homes unfold to reveal living spaces up to 25’ wide and 16’ high. The strength of the steel frame also allows for fewer load bearing walls, making it possible for Blu homes to have walls of windows that bring natural daylight inside.
Blu Homes’ structural steel technology, born out of research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), provides buildings of incredible quality for everyday living. Steel provides the strength and durability required for high performance in extreme weather conditions, including hurricane-level wind zones, heavy snow loads, high seismic zones and challenging soil and marine moisture environments.
Blu’s steel frame technology advantages
