Job Opening: Residential Architect/Project Manager
Blu Homes, a leading prefab homes company, is seeking qualified applicants for a Project Manager position in its Design & Engineering group. Blu is an early stage prefab homes company that designs and builds eco-friendly, customized prefab homes that are designed to take advantage of smaller spaces and intelligent design for more responsible ecological and economic footprints.
The candidate will work in collaboration with the design & design development staff, and will report directly to the VP of Product Development. S/he will be responsible for the general oversight of the permitting & engineering process, including reviewing all drawings and specifications, managing relationships with regulatory bodies, state and local permit offices, and consultants for existing and new projects. Heavy focus will be on reducing the time between the sale of a Blu home and it’s permitting, as well as error prevention during this process. Further, the qualified candidate will team with Blu’s design consultants; sales, marketing, and operations staff; and design staff to help develop the new Blu home models, specifications, and options.
Qualifications:
- Massachusetts licensed architect with at least 5 years project management experience;
- Extensive single-family, residential design & construction administration experience;
- Experience in prefab industry – either modular, panelized, or manufactured a very big plus;
- Licensure in other states a big plus;
- Experience using 3D modeling, BIM, and other advanced software tools a plus;

- Ability to manage multiple, simultaneous projects;
- Strong sense of urgency and ability to manage the meeting of demanding deadlines;
- Sincere concern for efficiency in the design, design dev’t, and permitting process;
- Willingness to manage projects in a collaborative manner;
- Interest in learning and working with advanced design software;
- Real interest in building and getting designs built;
- Interest in and ability to work in an extremely fast-paced, often chaotic startup-culture;
- Attitude that focuses on tasks accomplished;
- Intellectual curiosity about novel building technologies – including interest in advancing research on new building systems and products;
- Timeliness and attention to detail;
- Ability to “wear many hats” and embrace shifting roles, tasks, and projects;
