ii) Speed: Blu builds your house in our facilities in 4-6 weeks.  During this time, your daily life is uninterrupted by the tumult and uncertainty of construction.

At the same time, we send you images and/or video of your home being built in real-time, so that you are up to speed on the progress!

iii) Transparency: Blu provides timely images and updates on the progress of your build, so that you can see how things come together.  We know you are busy, and would like to know what’s happening with your house, but would rather not have a full-time construction oversight job.

iv) Cost-effective green: First, Blu’s innovative technology allows improved design and construction performance at lower prices. Second, by selling direct to clients we can give them the best possible prices.  Third, our proprietary technology allows for site planning, foundation work and home construction that are easy on the environment and less expensive than conventional systems. Fourth, by manufacturing ourselves, based on extensive research, we can control the products that go into our homes, and purchase them in bulk quantities to help save you money.

v) Healthy green:  Building in well controlled factory settings allows your home to be protected from wind, rain and the elements during construction, which greatly reduces potential for future mold and other toxins in your home. In addition, we avoid all VOC and formaldehyde emitting materials.

vi) Less materials for the same useful space:  Space utilization software helps you get more living space from a given your home. Facility-based construction reduces waste from conventional house construction by up to 70%.

Conventional Building Process

i) Conventional home building takes many months on site, with time delays due to subcontractor issues, weather concerns or inspection issues.  Often convention building can take 12-24 months, depending on the size of the project.  At Blu, reducing this time means reducing money spent and stress for our clients.

ii) It is easy to stop by a construction site to see how things are going, but most buyers do not want to be ‘general contractors’ for their own project.  Often, the first few visits on site are fun… but time on site and constant traveling back and forth can often be a burden. Why not just log online or get an email that shows and tells you exactly what’s happening?  However, Blu is happy to have you visit our facility occasionally in the process if you want to touch and feel the product. It’s up to you!

ii) It is can be hard for clients and individual builders, alone, to do the research it takes to meticulously go through the wide range of green product options available.  Many builders do try to look into this, but do not have the resources necessary for a complete job.

iii) It’s often hard for individual builders to source and find cost effective green products.  Given that they are only using them for one specific project most of the time, they end up having to pay higher prices than we can negotiate.

b) In traditional construction, houses are exposed to the elements during building so that water, wind and other elements infiltrate the frame and other parts of the home as it is being built.  Mold is one of the effects of this.

c) Construction waste is one of the biggest waste producers in the world.  How many times has one seen bins and bins being trucked away from a residential or commercial construction site?  It is hard for conventional builders to reduce waste, as they need to bring materials to the site and do all the cutting and finishing there.  At Blu, we have the benefit of being able to reuse materials for the same, or other parts of a project in the same facility.

You will need to:

Stay in close touch as we prepare to ship your home to your site.  Often there are site questions that arise (i.e. can we cut down some tree branches for access, move a power line, etc.) that will need your attention as we get close to siting your home.
