Bill Haney, co-founder and president

Experience: An inventor and entrepreneur, Bill started his first company as a college freshman, designing and building air pollution control systems for power plants. Since then he has started or helped start more than a dozen technology companies, with a strong focus on addressing environmental issues. Blu Homes, with its emphasis on using advanced technology improve the health, economics, design experience and environmental effect of housing for American families, and to do it in a fun and collaborative way, came out of an idea Bill developed with the Rhode Island School of Design, and is exactly what he wants to be doing right now!

Community: Co-Founder and President of the non-profit Infante Sano, Inc., which works to improve maternal and infant healthcare in the Dominican Republic. Helped start the national environmental advisory board for our federal government’s Environmental Protection Agency and serves or has served on boards for Harvard, MIT, State and Federal Governments, the World Wildlife Fund, the World Resources Institute, the NRDC and a number of private companies.

Interests: Loves portrait photography, documentary filmmaking, skiff sailing, political humor, Red Sox baseball, ice hockey and screenwriting.

Fun Fact: Has three impish children, three lunatic dogs, and a yard full of frogs!

Education: BA from Harvard College in 1984. Kennedy School Fellow 1997-2001.
